Default recommissioning the B2 80

Hi,

My 1986 Audi 80 CL 1.6 has been off the road (in my garage) for the past couple of years. I have kept the battery charged, started it once a month, and I'm going to put it back on the road (as a spare car in case my daily Octavia TDI gives up the ghost).

It starts, although it seems that the fuel pipes (it is a Weber carb) seem to shrink with age, as they need a lot of tightening.

Brakes are free, it drives forwards and backwards on my drive OK.

Going to take it for an MoT in a few days (got insurance for it for £192!!! fully comp inc business use).

Anything anyone recommends?

Oil change?

Air filter?

Or just fill it with Shell V power and go for it?

I already have a set of winter tyres and wheels for it............

Never..

Coolant, engine oil/filter and brake fluid change would be on my list! My lists tend to get a bit long though... maybe best with no list, drive it till it blows up.

Another B2 (heading) back on the road; good to hear

I've got various bits of 80 in the shed as spares for the Coupe project, but if you find you need anything give me a shout.

Good plan. I've got a set for the 100 too; I might even get to use them if I put the front-end back on it!

Good luck with the MOT and I'll keep an eye out next time I'm Chippenham-way

id get the rear brakes/hand brake serviced/greased or lubricated where needed....as on both of the b2 80s i had....the rear drums jammed shut and would not release when i used the handbrake fully.

(both audi's were not used for a number of years)

good luck Steve. I should get my 80 sport back on the road as well. Not used that since 2011!

It was nice to drive it the 2 miles to the test centre.......

Need it back on the road so the T4 can have some engine work done!

Failed!!!

Battery clamp missing - I took it off and it's in the garage somewhere

Exhaust missing 2 rubbers at back - I took them off for the 80 Sport!!!

Simples......
