Default G60 twin pot calipers on B2 80

Hi,

There is loads of unclarity on the issue of brake upgrade for the B2 80, I have searched and read through many threads with people claiming various things.

I managed to get my hands on some RS2 G60 twin pot calipers which I read on this forum were a bolt on upgrade for the B2, well guess what their not see below pics...

so my question is, will those mk1 conversion brackets you get on ebay do me justice for this upgrade or do I get custom ones made, any ideas would be well appreciated

How about upgrading suspension and removing need for any adaptors?

I think/thought/thunk that the hole centres were 76mm ish.
I'll be back in my apartment in a few days, and will be able to measure up what came off the quattro. I had G60s on it, from an MB.

Could it be that the adapter bracket is the difference?

Ok, just measured the carriers on the G60's from my 2.8 cab (same as S2) and they are 95mm centre to centre so its definitely an S2 setup you have (FYI they are not RS2 as you mention in your post as these had Porsche brakes not G60's).

yeah that was typo error they are S2 calipers.

i am going to get the brackets from flea bay and get these bad boys bolted on. Anyone know a good brake refurbisher that will give me a discounted price? I have seen the likes of BigRed and few other online companies.

This is the classic G60 vs G60 problem. Funnily enough I just replied on Club GTI about a similar thing.

In VW GTI circles a G60 brake setup is a Girling 54 with a 280mm x 22mm disc.

In Audi circles a G60 brake setup is a Girling 60 with a 276mm x 25mm disc.

Audi 80 B2's have the same caliper carrier mounting dimensions as the mk1 golf (76mm). Both of the G60 brake setups mentioned above have 95mm mountings. Neither will directly fit B2's.

You can buy from Just Caddys adaptor brackets that will allow you to fit Girling 54 calipers (with 280mm carriers NOT 256mm) or Girling 60's with Corrado G60 280mm x 22mm discs.

I am going to get the adapters of flea bay, the calipers reconditioned, and was planning on using B3 S2 discs and pads which are already 4x108 and made for these calipers?

You are mixing things up a bit, no RS2 G60's as mentioned already and there is no such thing as a B3 S2 or S2 discs with 4x108. It's 90 B3 20V discs you are looking for.

...or, he can buy B3 struts and forget about crappy adaptors.

Some time ago I read that pair of B3 one piece struts are what is needed for G60 conversion on B2, at that time I didn't understood why. Now I got a clue - I went to my shed, this is former brake caliper of my A90 - struts that came with it was a bit too deep to dig out

Apparently, while B2 uses B2 stuff, B3 uses C3 stuff.
