and this very interesting article saying you can take an ecu , manifold and fuel rail for a 10v 5 cyclinder volvo and bolt on with the volvo stock ecu map unadjusted running the show . i am amazed at the ingenuity of have a go belt and braces mechanics (-:

On 2.3 10v engine? Yeah, but there's a problem with volvo engine management - volvo 10v engines have engine management that really sucks, despite it might work, because it has been made by some company, that could do that, and not bosch, while 20v engines have LH3.2-jetronic or motronic, but, hey, they are 20v engines, which means that they likely have different detonation properties and so ignition maps than 10v engines. Also, they might work as long as you want to just run the engine, but since volvo uses sensors, inputs and outputs a bit differently than audi, it's quite likely that convenience features like trip computer or AC control might simply not work. Also, 60-2 impulse wheel is necessary as primary trigger.

I don't know what fiat used on 5 pot engines, but might be as well motronic, vw used very primitive digifant - VERY primitive.
