Hi,
When closed, the boot lid of my ’93 Cab appears to be sunk about 4mm too deep into the aperture leaving the trailing edges of the rear wings protruding like mini 1950s style fins. The lid weighs a ton so I’m hardly surprised that it’s attempting to make its way through the car - but I’m not keen on the micro 1950s effect which spoils the look of a car with pretty much spot on panel gaps otherwise. I’d be grateful for any advice on how to slightly raise the boot lid’s closed position please guys. |

Sounds like a bit of wear on your hinges. What I did with mine was slacken off the nuts slightly that attach the boot lid to the hinges and realign. You might need a new boot seal though if its been like that for a long time as it will compressed over the years and if you realign the hinges you may end up with. Gap between the seal and the boot kid.

if the boot lid is to low then all you have to do is slacken the bolts on the hinges to the boot lid, then make up some metal plates or just use washers between the boot lid and hinges that will lift your boot lid up 2 or 3 mm.

If you do that you just need to be careful to ensure your boot lock engages properly that's all.

Well having finally got round to giving it a go adjusting the hinges alone did the trick.
Tip: 13mm flexi-head ratchet ring spanner is made for the job. Thanks Guys. Last edited by Mattyboyblue; 23-07-13 at 09:10 PM. |
