Default Audi 100 2.2 turbo - high idle, then non starting

Hello,

Just been out to the 100 turbo (MC engine code), stuck a battery on it and it started the 1st time of trying.

It idles at approx 2000 rpm.

When you stop the engine, and then try to restart, it won't restart immediately, you have to leave it a few minutes (2-5), then when it does start, it won't idle at all, and you have to keep your foot on the accelerator to keep the engine running.

Any ideas???

Well according to my autodata manual for the MC code 200 T, youd need to test the following.

Cold start valve for leaking.
Aux air valve.
Injectors.
Control pressures.
Fuel system for leaks.
Idle speed and co% content.

Cheers,

Just a thought, I had similar on my MC and it was an air leak that I couldn't find until I took the wing liner off. The pipe from the airbox to the carbon canister inside the wing had ripped open (how?). On mine I had checked everything I could see for a leak and only found this after 3 weeks of poking around and swapping parts. Like yours, mine would only start when cooled down after the cold start system kicked in enough to overcome the leak.

Sorry to drag up an old post!

if its idling at the high revs then check the base idle , if thats fine take out the engine stabliser valve and give it a good clean, i swap min over and it went from idling at 3000rpm to sitting at 1200rpm stable.

Do you have a smell fo petrol when it wont start?
Mine started cutting out when it came back from being fixed, was told to check the switches between number 1 and 2 spark plugs for loose wires and alod the one on the rear of the cylinder head, havent done it yet though!

If any of the sensors are not working correctly it will over fuel, sock the spark plugfs and wont start till they have dried
