Default Visual Studio 2012 (Nerd Thread)

Hi chaps, I need a point in the right direction....

Does anyone program in VB in Visual studio 2012?

I have a selection of programs that I have written over the years in VB6 they all access Microsoft Access databases.

Most of this stuff I need to revamp to be able to use it on the latest Window platforms.

I have been trying to update the old stuff to use later style functions in VS2012 but I feel like I am banging my head against the wall as they appear to got rid of most of the database control stuff I used to use.

So my question is....

What is the best language to write stuff in to be a little more future proof
and
What is the best type of database am I to use as it appears access is well outdated and may soon not be supported.

please help any I have been out of this stuff for 11 years

Talking Don't know that much.

You could always, dual boot your pc?Then when you turn on your pc,it'll ask which system you want to boot.

It needs updating guys.....
Its like trying to keep an Audi on the road at the minute.

and all the stuff is NLA or should I say No Longer Supported....

I cant use dual boot as some software has to run 64bit and the other 16 and 32
and I need to be able to view both at the same time and I dont want 2 machines.

I have just speed read the VB.net manual and might of found a way, however it still means rewriting several thousand lines of code....

Oh well it was great while it lasted.

If you do it as fast as your cars, you'll have it done in minutes.
I know alittle about computers, but never heard of 16 bit.
I thought of dual booting, because I'll have to do that on my main pc.Some of the programs I have, use 32+64bit.

Have you seen this ?? http://www.vbto.net/

I don't use VB much myself, mostly PHP and some javascript with MySQL for webserver stuff, it's been ages since I wrote a real program from start to finish...
