I was putting new shocks on the front of the 200E today and eventually (with one side done) the rain got the better of me. In my haste to get everthing away I have locked my keys in the boot.
The Central Locking is disconnected right now too. I do have a spare that was cut from the original but that does not open the boot. I don't really want to force it. Just to make matters worse its backed on to my Mums drive way and is about 4 inches from the closed garage door. Does any one have any ideas of how I can get in the boot with out resorting to (too much) violence?

I have a spare rear light - if it comes to it you could break one and get in that way. If you are happy to pay me what I paid for the light (£10) + postage I'll send it to you on Monday. Let me check what side I have first. I thought there was a spare key?

if you have shedloads of old keys like i do , find a similiar shaped on thats worn and try that, many of these locks are crude and worn and a similiar key has got me out of this situation before many times, a long shot tho

Yes its the worn (original) key that works - I do have a spare but it does not want to turn in the boot lock.
Might have a look for some spares - one of the kids had a bit of a key fixation years ago - theres a big bunch some where (probably in the boot!!)

The spare should work - I assume you've tried wiggling it etc etc?? You could file some of the edges off (which I guess is a bit risky). Btw, I have a complete rear right hand light (looking at the rear) so you could smash it...

cheers - i'll do a bit of 'jiggling' tomorrow - and give it a bit of a rub with a scotch pad - should take the edges off - smashing the light might be a last resort (it'd be the left one anyway) there was a spare rear light in the box of goodies you let me have - cant remember which side it is though (its in the shed and its wet and cold now!).
BTW - much interest in the 5T?

Oooh, I know the answer to this one! Unfortunately the 200 5E lacks a ski tunnel so the boot is totally sealed off by a sheet of metal and a piece of fibre board. I suppose blowing / sucking one of the central locking pipes won't help???? Will only work if the internal switch in the pump happens to be bias to open and the pipes are connected - give it a go! So your 200 is out in the rain is it?
There has been a lot of interest in the 5T but no one has offered me £5K yet. I'm not selling now anyhow but the advert has been such good publicity I'm going to keep it on. In the future when your 200 is worth loads I'd like to think I've helped pump the price up! ![]() |

Use an old key that fits the lock and insert it into the lock leaving just a few mm sticking out, dont push it fully home.
Then apply light pressure in the direction needed to open it and tap the key in to the lock on it end using something like a thin piece of wood, like a spoon or suchlike whilst maintaining the twist. If youre lucky it may "bump" the lock open. Dont hit the key hard tho, just tap it in while turning it lightly. Only other way is to make a small tension wrench and apply a very light constant pressure to the lock whilst stroking the pins to make them pop one at a time. Takes a while to develop the feel but if the locks worn you stand a good chance of doing it without damaging anything. ![]() |
