Hi to all fellow forum users. we have decided (with a heavy heart) to offer our '85 Tornado Red coupe quattro for sale. Three other cars and a bank balance that would go down at a comedy club dictates this very reluctant sale. We have owned the car since Feb '09 when we bought it from it's previous owner, an elderly man, who had owned it for 11years and had only done 20000 miles in that time! We have done various jobs to the since purchase with the intent of making her as good as possible with the intention of long term ownership. As you can see from the photo she is a very respectable specimen, but she is not perfect - more detailed pics are available on request.
Bodywork is generally good but there are a few areas that need attention, as follows - Rear wheel arches - both sides have started to rust. I have attended to these in the form of rubbing down, treating, priming and painting but rust being rust a long term fix is required. Front wheel arches have a very small amount of bubbling. O/S/R quarter panel and a small section of door near to handle has a poor area of paint as a result of previous owner scrapping on gate post and subsequent poor repair/paint job. There is a small area of rust in the usual place - bottom of windscreen, again I have previously attended to this to improve condition. Now for the good bits! All 4 alloys are in good condition (1 has a few small scrapes) Interior is in excellent condition. There are no tears or wear - even to the usual places on the seats (seat covers are used to preserve). Original radio/cassette is with the car but the tape mechanism is not operating correctly as it is permanently running with no tape inserted (probably an easy fix to those who know how). Current mileage is 105300 We have all MOT certificates since 1994. Service book is partly stamped and we have a print out from the garage that the previous owner used detailing all work done to the car. I have all receipts for work carried out to the car during our ownership. Owners manual and radio manual are in the original folder. As is the norm for one of these she sounds and runs great. A number of jobs have been carried out since we had her, as follows: Cam-belt replaced together with new water-pump and idler. New fuel pump. New O/S/R Caliper, rear discs and pads. O/S/F C.V Boot replaced. New thermostat. New Spark plugs, dizzy cap and rotor arm. One section of brake pipe replaced. All oil breather hoses removed and cleaned, some replaced. Oil and filters changed. All 4 original mud-flaps are on the car. The rears I had repaired due to metal spine being split, and then I restored them all including having Audi ring decals and quattro badges specifically made which look great. All in all the car is pretty straight and genuine. I don't think it has had any accident damage. The front & rear number plates appear to be the originals from the supplying dealer. So if you are after one of these in overall unmolested condition then please contact me for more details - I am more than happy to talk quattro!!
