Default 2.0 16V engine (6A)

Hi

Looking for an Audi 80 16V engine & box. This is for my conversion (into a 77 shell). There are plenty of complete cars available but to be honest they are too good to break and I haven't got the time or space to do that. So if anyone knows of an 80 with this engine being broken please let me know.

Think they used this motor in Passats too, try E38 forum as it has a very good classifieds section!

I have a B4 16v 80 that I may be scrapping as it needs it's head gasket changing, but I'm a few hundred miles from you.

Passat's and Corrado's came with the 9A - very similar.
Golf boys tend to go for the 9A as it is a slightly easier swap for them.

Oh - just remembered there's a guy on here with a 6A lump for sale...

No, just the 9A is more common place, the 9A is also 10mm taller (AKA tall block) so makes fitting zorst manifolds a bit more complicated!

The 6A is a bubble block and the same height as a KR 16V!

You would probably be better off getting a complete car because you can drive it and know its ok instead of just taking someones word for it, also a complete car is an advantage as you can strip it at your leisure and you get everything you need ie brains, wireing mountings ect and know it all corosponds to the engine.
