Default Serious Moral dilemma

Dead engine block. Ally block, mai bearing suds still in, but otherwise stripped, and sadly, scrap, due 2 cracks, one serious.

options
Scrap it. But what's the value?

Sell it. A chap I know wants it to make a coffee table.

scrap metal isn't fetching big money at the mo unless you've got tons of the stuff (aluminium is about 80 cents a pound).

Sell to your mate and sleep well on the basis that it still giving someone some joy as a work of art

The smaller crack is in the head face of the right Bank. (the left bank may still be off limits...)

The second crack is on Main bearing number 3 support. goes right through the oilway, long wise with the axis of the crankshaft. Associated with this is the main bearing shells had turned with the shaft through 90degress, and chattered across the seating face.

Difficult to see from these pics. I'll take better ones tomorrow.

To resolve it, it would need a weld, line bore. crank grind. head mating faces skimmed

It could be done, but financially makes little sense.

Will. CC might well be in the S4, if you are still up for it. I'll call you tomorrow.
