hi, looking for a little advice i'm the pround 2nd owner of a B reg audi 80 sport in white which i'm looking to convert to 4wd at some stage for a bit more fun. I've recently been offered a G plate 2.3 quattro with a servere case of body rot but sound engine and good working running gear, would this be a suitable donor car for mine?? If any one has any ideas it would be much appreciatedas as at the mo i'm on crutches and cant get underneath to compare so any info would be great.
cheers |

With time and money ANYTHING is possible.
Converting a 2wd 80 Sport to 4wd is generally considered bonkers. Start off with a B2 80 quattro (if you can find one) or the more common 90 quattro. Just my 2p worth.

If you want more fun, lower it, polybush it, fit 195/50R15 wheels, 256mm brakes off a 90, and put in a 2.0 16 valve or a 1.8 turbo.
The key thing of the 2wd 80 Sport is it's 950/980kg weight and better balance than a 5 pot as it is less nose heavy. 200bhp out of a 2.0 16 valve on throttle bodies should see off most cars......

given that the 80quattro is about 300kgs heavier than then very nimble and agile and positively superb B2 80 sport, I'd stick with 2WD and then just drop in a 225 brake 1.8T engine in, point forward, push the pedal and pray a little!
