Default '93 urS4 Saloon (Manual) - 100k FSH
Seller Type : Private
Vehicle Make : Audi
Vehicle Model : 100 S4 Saloon
Price : £1750
Location : Manchester, UK
Additional Details : V5C (Logbook)

Reluctantly selling my '93 urS4 saloon that I've owned since August 2006.

The car's been off the road since the end of last year. Up to that point it was doing weekly duty carrying me 450 miles a week to work and back but spiralling fuels costs means it's been cheaper to pick up a diesel runabout. Plan was to keep the Audi as a second car, but lack of money, time and space have conspired against me.

Car is finished in silver with silver 'quattro' jacquard cloth and is fitted with extras of carbon-trim, Diavia manual air-con and an electric steel sunroof along with all the standard kit (Recaro seats, elec mirrors, windows, etc.).

I've had the car since Aug 2006, buying from a fellow Club GTI member who had searched far and wide for the best possible example. It's had four previous owners (first was Audi UK) and had just 62k on it when I bought it - now at just over 100k. I have a big folder with nearly every receipt from new plus all manuals, stamped service book, etc. Under my care it's been maintained at QRSport and then RennTech by Tim Cooper, and by my local garage for less-techy jobs.

Car has been sat since late last year, although Iv'e been starting it and letting it warm through every few weeks to keep it happy.

Some photos:

Good bits:

Standard condition.
Recent new cambelt (within 5k), new spark plugs, plug boots, boost valve, recirc valve.
Fully refurbed powder-coated wheels with good Eagle F1 tyres.
Body is in excellent condition with no rust.
Interior also in excellent condition - no rips, tears, nasty stains.
Ridiculously cheap to insure!

Bad bits:

UFO discs & pads are on their last legs, however I have a full set of HP2 struts, calipers (need refurbing) plus S6 discs (skimmed and ready to fit) that I'll throw in with the purchase.
Discs & pads have corrosion on them from having sat.
A heat-shield has dropped underneath and is scraping the prop-shaft - sounds a lot worse than it is.
Auto-check display & speed-check only working intermittently.
Dull paint on roof from too many car-washes (not me) - easy to hide with polish, but reappears with time!
Light scrape on o/s rear wing.
No tax or current MOT.
A/C needs a recharge.

With a bit of mechanical work and a good polish I reckon this could be one of the nicest & most-original examples of this rare and rapid motor.

Looking for £1750, or offers.

Car is located in Manchester and can generally be viewed Fri - Mon work permitting.

Feel free to PM me to drop me an email to awdixon@gmail.com, or call me on 0771 113 2922 for any additional info.

Cheers.

The car's right, but, and it's a big but, it has no tax or MOT.

To achieve a price like this I would suggest that you get it MOT'd - it will either pass or give an indication on what needs doing to obtain a 'pass'. That way both you, and any potential buyer will be in a position where you don't need the haggling and negotiations over 'well, I think it needs this, that or the other replacing / spending on it'..

To me, it would appear money need spending on paintwork (roof and wing - circa £250), new discs and pads, and then anything else that pops up, which potentially makes the car quite expensive.

I'm not 'dissing' the car, far from it, as I could be interested in it myself, but have baulked at the price bearing in mind it will stack up as costing in excess of £2k by the time it's done.

I would be interested if it had the MOT as I've always loved the look of the old S4

As I say, I'm not dissing the car, and I am interested, but, having spoken to a friend who has one, and a ur, and who is veeery knowledgeable, you really need to have your mind put at rest IMO; either an MOT or a pre-MOT with documentation, as then you can budget on how much any repairs etc will be.

Paintwork is a 'given' as a decent bodyshop will charge roughly what I stated, and to be fair the car shouldn't have anything other than a decent job done on it, judging by how good it looks.

The other-bits (eg suspension, brakes, bushes etc) can only fairly be judged by an MOT, or an independant inspection.

Hey thanks for the friendly, constructive posts chaps - it's the first time I've ever had to sell a car without an MOT so it was a bit of a "toe in the water" ad! Think I was hoping for a dream scenario where someone saw it, thought "I could fix that in my garage over a weekend" and snapped my arm off!

Yep, fully agree that the car's something of an unknown quantity without an MOT (pass or fail!) - it's basically just my word to go on for what needs doing. What's the deal on getting a car to an MOT centre when it's untaxed, uninsured and un-MOT'd? My guess is that trailering/towing it is the only option?

Having read all these posts I'm starting to wonder whether I should get my a*** in gear and get it back on the road myself. It really is an ace car, and I'll never find another one. £35k brand new back in '93 ... and as quick as a Boxster S in a straight line ... hmm.

@rtz62 - the roof isn't actually that bad and after a coat of Autoglym the dulling isn't really noticeable - however the n/s scrape does need paint to make it look better. Also I have a set of newly skimmed S6 front discs to fit the HP2s. I'll amend the ad if I can!

@quattrokid - yep, I remember your old urS4 and saw it on the M6 heading in the opposite direction when it used to be owned by someone else (Pete?). What happened to that car?
