Hi all,
I am currently going slightly crazy at the fact I can't get hold of a correct distributor for my beloved coupe. My car wouldn't start which was identified to the hall sender on the dizzy. I ordered one stated for my car and it turned up with a non angled cap. The distributor was the same as my old one. Well the new one wouldn't fit without a bit of persuasion and the key way wouldn't slot in fully until bolted up, it just didn't feel right. I know the corrado has the same setup ke-motronic as I had one but will the dizzys be the same? For the life in me I can't find a dizzy for my vehicle, everything points to corrado and they all have the spring clips for dizzy cap and not screws like my angled cap. Could someone please please please point me in the right direction for a replacement dizzy or if someone has a spare. In 2 years this is the only thing gone wrong with it and it's turned out to be a nightmare when in theory it's a very simple fix. Thanks in advance Steve |

Thanks for the reply.
It's the actual distributor itself and not the cap I need. The hall sender packed in, I believe it's been getting weak over time as it was down on power in the low rev range (weak spark I think) until eventually it wouldn't start. The corrado will work but will not fit the angled cap as it's bolt down and corrado is spring clip. Corrado unit will still fit complete though. |

Sorry, I misread your post...
http://vagparts.2am.fi/index.php?part=053905205D The above link seems to be the part, but as you say these seem to come with the wrong cap. I have a vested interest in solving this- you never know when I will get the same problem ![]() I'm hoping to replace the o-ring, as part of the hunt for why my Coupe goes through so much oil. (Yes, valve stem seals are a concern, but 1litre a month is a lot, I think) Good Luck! |

wow 1 litre a month, i doubt valve stems would burn that much, if so you would tell as it would run like a bag of nails. Have you got leaks? you will tell if its coming from the dizzy housing as there will be oil on your gearbox and also it would burn on the exhaust downpipe as its right next to where it would leak onto. I lost about half a cup when removing my dizzy. i've ordered a 2nd hand proper dizzy with bolt down cap as well as the corrado one just so ive got a back up in future. Its left me with a dead coupe for 2 week, just from 1 simple part so i dont want this happening again. It looks like its stumped everyone else too as ive had no feedback from various forums including this one

The Corrado 9a 16v distributor works a treat. Part No. 051 905 205 C. Only difference is that the Corrado is a clip down top entry cap which still fits nicely with plenty of room from the bulkhead compared to the Coupe's original right angled screw down cap.
Hope this helps peeps in the future |
