The nightmares of buying a car......

I have been on the lookout for a car for the missus for about a week or so. She fancies an A3, but it has to be an automatic. Looking through Autotrader and Pistonheads has thrown up a few possible cars in her budget. As they are not a particularly common model, I am prepared to get off my arse and travel for the right car. One car that looked OK was down in London, so I phoned the guy (a trader) on Sunday to ask him to email some more detailed pics of the interior etc as I am a fair bit away in Northwich, Cheshire. I wouldn't want to travel all that way to find out that the car is a shitter, as I would see my arse big time. "No Problem", he said. Three phone calls later and stil no email. The second car is fairly local, in Wrexham. I phoned him (another trader) yesterday to arrange to go and view the car today. I got there today as planned, and he phones me to say he has had to go to 'work' (yet the ad says he's a trader?). The ad has the phrase 'No timewasters', but the irony is somewhat lost on him. How do these muppets sell any cars? The search continues.......

There are loads of CRAP cars out there, it took me over a year to find my moms a4 dtm, and im still on the hunt for an s2 avant, its so hard to find an honest car with the description of the car being correct too. Keep hunting good luck captain

I might get flamed, but if I was buying an auto i would go for a the other two main german manufacturers!
Auto box in the A3 i guess is going to be rare, unusal combination.

Well after a wasted journey to see an S Plate A3 1.8 SE Auto on Saturday in Hemel Hempstead, I finally got an A3 auto yesterday for the missus. I had to travel all the way to Orpington in Kent for it, which has been a bit of a pain. An R Plate A3 1.8 SE Auto in Cactus Green with full black leather. Nice car for a 12 year old shopping trolley. Anna likes it, so job done. Just need to get it down to the Benster at AVP to get it given the all clear.
