My old series 3 jag v12 had twin tanks, but I'm glad I never tried filling them both up. Turns out one of them had a leak. The next owner on from the bloke I sold it to, lost £40 worth of petrol. Oops ! Lucky escape I had there.

And 16.2 mpg was not nice either.

Are you telling me MB's are all 'environmental, gay, green, tree hugging cars, that don't belch flame and sound like an artiliary bombardment?'

That just about confirms my suspicions... The breed was lost at the demise of the WR.

Hmmm the mb is the green car 26 to the gallon on a good day but they are not good at huggging trees and unless a towbar is fitted tree pulling is a no no

Took a mate's jaguar xjr to an MOT a few weeks ago. Failed on emissions. CO was 11.5%. Onboard computer said it was doing 8mpg. I weakened the mixture enough to get it to pass, and on the way back I managed to get the mpg up to an impressive 11.
He'd only put a tenner's worth of petrol in it, so even driving it as carefully as I did, it only had enough for another 5 miles. Glad my 3.2 does more than that (22).

Now call me a sad old git but I've been thinking also about MPG lately. Now having done the sums etc I've convinced myself that it is actually cheaper to go out and buy a old luxo barge than buying a new 30k Audi.

A guy I work with has just bought a new A5? (sort of A6 coupe) I kid you not £34k without any bits on. Now I'm no car price expert but how much would it lose in 3 years ? 12k? If that's the case then it's cheaper over 3 years if you do 10k miles per year to buy a tax free RR Silver Shadow for 12k. Say 2k depreciation. Get 10 miles per gallon out of it as apposed to 30mpg etc etc

Well that's what what I'm trying to convince the wife !!!!!
