Default Indicators stuck on

Help!!
The indicators are stuck on (not flashing) on my 1991 Audi 80 quattro. They stay on even with th ignition off and the key in my hand. It has remote central locking (which flashes the indicators) and that seems to have stopped working too. Everything was fine, the car was running when it cut out and when I restarted it the indicators were stuck on!!!
Any suggestions?

Default stuck indicators

just a thought have u removed flasher relay?. also try disconnecting hazard flasher switch. iv had one of these go faulty on a vw group car, and that was a similar fault to indicators staying on. only other thing i can think of is removing fuse that protects central locking control unit then see if indicators are still on.

just u few of my thoughts , tho not an expert, this is where i would start

I personally think it's faulty remote locking unit. As we can see in this schematic, hazard switch only switches both sides together and switches relay power from ignition to separate fuse which is always on - so to achieve this, there must be faulty switch and flasher relay. I haven't heard about such fault yet. U can try as Steve said, only, let's correct that - try to disconnect flasher relay itself [to do that, u have to remove that shelf which is above driver's legs] - without it there is no direction lights or hazard lights - or try to remove fuse of your remote locking unit.
