To be fair if you don't want to be spending bucket loads limit yourself to something like rs2 spec tops. I should have done that in the first place with mine but went ott and regretted it, spent loads of money and didn't finish the project so sold everything and got the s4/urq instead.

best spec:

rs2 farb
rs2/nuespeed rear
porsche brakes
homefries
h&r springs
rs2 shocks
homefries.
stainless exhaust
plus s8 alloys

that will give you 300 ish bhp and a car that handles and stops whilst looking good.

From a family, bootspace/legroom/kiddyseat point of view the S2 betters the B6 Avants, we know, we've been there, from an mpg point of view the S2 will exceed 30mpg on a Motorway loap... And on a performance point of view, will see off most things this side of a fit M3. And the family, with the dog comes too... Handling wise, they're better than the S2 Coupes as they run the earlier B3 rear suspension and whilst heavy (relatively) they get a second wind of grip when you go past 8/10th's.... I'd have one....

Thought it was b4 rear suspension ala rs2/b4 saloons etc? apart from that, good advice/comments.

Only thing I ever had against mine was the weight compared to a cq etc.
