Default Our day in the highlands

My fiancee and i headed off early yesterday for some time out of the city. We left edinburgh, and went first to Aviemore and up to the Cairngorm Railway. Had some fun when we hit the A9 through the mountains, empty roads and long sweeping bends made me smile, and Kristina hold on tight.
We then decided to get off the beaten track and hit the back roads towards Balmoral Castle - really worth it as the scenery and roads were equally great.
And finally back down the A93 to perth and home.
320 miles and still a quarter of a tank of super left, i was surprised, although the shouts of disapproval from the passenger seat helped to keep my right foot fairly light by all accounts.
Great day out and we'll hopefully be headin up again in the winter.
Some pics i took on my phone too

Aye, we were indeed.
Lost count of the number of stops, Kristina's a photographer so she would shout " oh oh oh stop stop stop" every time she saw something she liked. Think she ended up with a few hundred snaps.
I tend to hang back feeling inferior takin pics on my phone.
I'm sure i'd be up for a meet on 24th, many attending?

great day out As a route suggestion, may i recommend you avoid the A9 like the plague and turn in by Blairgowrie and come up by Glenshee/Braemar/ Lecht next time. Perhaps i could come and meet you in my white 90q And that is the place to stop and enjoy just how beautiful our country really is.

great looking car by the way which variant is it?

I wonder, Edinburgh.. i saw a nice black 90q 20v coming back from murrayfield last year near haymarket. I wonder if this is it.

Would; be nice to see this in Stirling at end of October, should be 80,90 and 100s

We came back through braemar and blairgowrie, have driven that road a couple of times before, but knew the other half would be unimpressed with my energetic driving first thing in the morning. At least by 6pm and 10 hours of driving/walking later she was too tired to give the complaints any gusto and i was able to enjoy the road a wee bit.
My 90 is a 20v quattro sport, it probably was me you saw in edinburgh; i haven't seen another black one in scotland, nevermind edinburgh (it's nice to belong to an exclusive club)
I've put 24th oct in my diary, nothing else on thbat day, so i'll be there!
