Default Model Railways

i bought my little boy his first OO gauge trainset the other day and I'm ashamed to say that £200 later its gone from a simple oval to 2 ovals and 3 sidings with 2 controllers. Because me and my old man had a set 30 yrs ago i've (HE'S) got a wren loco, a hornby and 2 lima locos plus a little hornby engine plus thomas and 2 carriages and 6 large carriages, 2 brake vans and several trucks.
I am currently bidding on a large diesel loco on ebay.
Am I getting carried away by what is basically a toy set for old men???
help

Is dcc digital?
Sounds impressive how you control an actual loco rather than what happens to be on a section of track.
luckily for the wifes bank balance my old trains aren't suitable to convert and have a chip put in them.
keepin'it ol' skool , or something like that...

Thats it Stuart, i have a lenz system and you can also control all the marker lights on the loco's too if you have them or fit them......her indoors thinks it nuts when i spend hours airbrushing and detailing a loco etc ....very sad

I have a load of 00, about 12 engines, lots of rolling stock from when my Dad and I had a rail layout. One day I will have a loft big enough to set it all up in!

just had a chat with the wife about the trains, DCC and the money I've spent and I said
"Johns got DDC and his trains got a chip...."
"Hang on, who's John?"
"you know, John whos got the quattros"
so she replied
"The sadness of your clan just gets deeper and deeper!"
I'm sure she understands deep down

Not so much model railways anymore but i'm fascinated by making model scenes.... Plan is to make a small 40 x 50cm forrest scene to put my Demuth 1:43scale on...

A scalectrix model Quattro set would suit me more

I'd have to agree with her though Stu!
I can just see JJ going 'choo-choo' and pushing his trains along the carpet

Surprised he gets the time these days after making hundreds of minature soap cocks and hiding the sausage all day!
