Hi,
After much deliberation, I'm selling my Audi 80 CL. Too many kids, not enough time...... 1986, details below copied from ebay advert. Welcome to the auction for my 1986 Audi 80 CL aka “the pimpmobile”. I am selling this car because I don’t have the time to do the things I wanted to with it, and I have 4 kids and a full time job so I’d rather let someone have some fun with it. I am an Audi / VW enthusiast, and now I have acquired my wife’s T4 Caravelle as my “toy”. I have been on the “classic audi” website for years, my username is pimpdriver. There is an interesting story behind this car, back in 2000 I didn’t have a car, and a colleague at work said if I took this car away, I could have it for free. So I did, and it passed the MoT for £100. I did give him some beer. I kept the car, in daily use for approximately 3 years, when I wanted a bit more excitement and power, so I bought an Audi 100 quattro. Then I got a Mk2 Golf which was 3 doors, so was a pain in the back getting small children in and out. So, I went on ebay looking for a 4 door car, and found my Audi, up for sale again!. I won it with 15 seconds to spare, and got it back. For a couple of years I had it in storage, as I didn’t have the need to use it. I got it back on the road and it has been on and off as my 2nd or 3rd car for the past few years. I did use it for a spell of 6 months about 2 years ago, as our other car was broken. As a daily driver it is lovely, very nimble, and returns 40mpg. It is very light, approx 950kg and does 0-60 in about 10.5 seconds so can keep up with modern traffic. A bit about the car. It has done 148k miles. It has a Weber carb fitted It has 12 months MoT (all it needed for the MoT was a rear wheel bearing and the rear brakes cleaning up). It has Audi 80 Sport 14” alloys on it. Tyres are Vredestein Hi-Trac with 5mm of tread all round (they are a matched set), I put these on the car in 2007 (I used winter tyres for a bit, hence the good tread), however they are 9 years old. There is no cracking to the sidewalls. It has a 5 speed gearbox (fitted approximately 20000 miles ago, when the clutch was also changed). I have regularly maintained it, oil changes, spark plugs, leads etc. It is a very simple car to maintain, with great access to the engine bay. Faults with the car: I took the glovebox apart to put wiring to the speakers, and haven’t put it back together - all the parts are there, think of it as a jigsaw puzzle! The dash lighting does not work. There is one wire from the cigarette lighter that needs plugging into the back of the dash - it is a simple job to remove dash and pop it in. I have lost of history for it, receipts and other bits and bobs. Bodywork: The bodywork is in pretty good condition overall, it has had a repair on the right rear arch, and there are scabby bits on the other arches. The lacquer on the boot lid has gone a bit funny, but it was like that when I got it 16 years ago. It is the original boot lid as it has the Renwicks of Plymouth supplying dealer sticker and number plates on it. It was leaking around the windscreen, so I sealed it with glazing silicone. This was not a pretty job, but it is functional and doesn’t leak anymore. No stereo fitted, but I will supply a modern USB stereo, speakers, and a subwoofer with it so you can fit it. I bought all the kit, just never got round to fitting it. Spares: I have got the following spares for it: 2 Audi 80 Sport DZ engines (1.8), I was going to either fit one of these, or bore out the original block (to keep the engine number the same) and then fit one of these heads with the Weber carb rejetted to give approximately 130bhp. I had this setup in my Mk2 Golf and it was great fun! If you don’t want the engines (as they are heavy to move), please let me know. I do have an engine crane which you can have (folds up small) to put them into the back of a van. A set of Bilstein shocks for it. A thicker front Anti Roll Bar (off an Audi 90) 256mm brake calipers and matching discs A few headlights and tail lights Speakers, and subwoofer for it Probably a box of random switches. I am starting the bidding at £500, which is what the car owes me, but as you will know if you know these cars, there are only 43 left in the country, and only 12 1986 models left - these are getting rare and haven’t been thrashed like the Audi 80 Sport. Usual sensible ebay rules, £50 Paypal deposit within 48 hours of auction end. Collection within 7 days and balance in cash. It is not taxed or insured so no test drives are possible, but it can be seen running and moving about on my 4 car drive. You can drive this away (sort out your own insurance, there is a post office 1 mile away) or take it away on a trailer.
