Default new screen - query??

I made a couple of enquries today about a new screen for my B2.

One place said they can get, approx. 6 weeks .... BUT they wanted to know about the interior mirror as, apparently, about the time mine was made ( beginning of January 1985) the mirror mounting brackets were changed???
They asked me if I could take off the mirror and take a photo on the screen mounting in order that they could get the correct mounting.
I've never heard of this ( although I 've never had to replace the screen, in 31 years ! ).

Anybody know about this change ???

Isn't your interior mirror stuck on to the screen? Presumably you still have that old interior mirror and you just get them to stick it back on with their magic adhesive. My cq had to have its mirror stuck back onto the windscreen , and the little bracket the mirror attaches to had to be left for 24 hours before attaching the stem of the mirror to it...

IIRC. And assuming, with all of its comedy...

There is a matt mounting surface, on which you will ultimately bond the fixed mounting bracket.
To this, you will attach the mirror, secured with a little grub screw.

The glass without the matt mounting point makes it difficult.

And if all that is peculiar to the ur, I make no apology, and return to my pint of Guinness.

Well, I can only speak of the cq and that had no matt surface I could see on its surface or any "matt mounting surface " but as the mirror was being fitted by the windscreen guys I didn't pay THAT much attention. Can't imagine there is any difference between UR windscreens and cq's but I suspect Mark is a better qualified chap to listen to.

I might well be thinking of one of the other cars. My ur has a very messy attachment right now.

Have now got a screen, very locally, and only 24 hours to get it !

Thanks to cd9 for his offer of a screen/rubbers etc (and he also has a rear screen if anybody needs one).
