Hi all.
I lowered my type 85 Coupe Quattro a few years back. Recently one of the rear dampers / shock absorbers has decided to commit suicide. Currently using a 40mm lowering kit from SPAX. I'm thinking it has failed because I suspect that they are not shortened dampers. Can anyone recommend on a good replacement "Shortened" damper. Preferably adjustable. Thanks. |

Hi, I've recently purchased a similar kit from spax. I haven't fitted it yet. Would the springs and shocks not be matched to each other as in they should be the correct length?

From what I remember from when I fitted my SPAX kit is that the springs didn't need to be compressed at all to be fitted to the struts. Im not an expert but I thought that was a bit odd for a lowering kit.
I think I might purchase some adjustable koni dampers all round now. However I don't think that they are shortened either but Koni say that they will accept up to a 40mm lowering spring. |
