oooh, ok! I'm here!

Is it a metallic paint?

If it is, it will depend on the condition of the clearcoat as early Audi clearcoats aren't anything like the new ones and can crack over time.

if the clearcoat looks ok then a machine polish with a decent polish such as Menzerna or 3M finesse range will soon get it looking good again.
What must be taken into consideration is that a lot of the cut comes from the actual pad so having the right polishing pad/polish combo is key to getting a superb finish in a short space of time. Using the wrong pad could lead to micro marring or the polish not breaking down.

Doing it by hand is very labour intensive to say the least but good results can be reached as long as you don't mind blisters and tennis elbow!

no reason why not although body shops tend to use trade stuff and harsher cutting pads so then invariably leave buffer trails and marring.
