The recent North Wales run led by Hoyle was a great success so we hatched the idea of doing a similar thing in the Yorkshire Dales. Anyone who enjoys N Wales should enjoy the Dales too.
Sun 27th Oct is the chosen date so that anyone SORN-ing their car from Nov can take part. Suggested meeting point and route are as follows: * Meeting place: 10am at Sainsbury's at Bamber Bridge, off J29 of M6 just S of Preston; postcode PR5 6BJ, it has a café open from 9.30am * Route: off M6 at J31, head east towards Clitheroe, up through the Trough of Bowland via Slaidburn & Ingleton, B6255 to Ribblehead & Hawes, then over to Kirkby Stephen, Appleby & towards Penrith. From Penrith a return trip up the A686 to Alston which is one of the UK's top ten driving roads. Maybe include Ullswater & Ambleside in the route back south. * I suggest the lunch location is best left to moods on the day, influenced no doubt by bacon butty intake at Sainsbury's café. * The full circuit back to J31 of the M6 is approx. 220 miles - let me know if the general consensus is for a shorter route. A couple of shots taken in the area: ![]() ![]() Cheers Chris

Nice photos Chris, but I am surprised at the lack of sheep, they were everywhere last time I was up that way.

Yep up for this one Chris, hopefully.
Some great roads up and around there. My URs gone in today for bodywork attention so hope it will be sorted (bloody should be) by then if not before for Castle Combe on the 12th. Everything crossed for both! ![]() |
