Hello fellas,
I have a problem I was hoping someone could help me with. My electric windows don't work. Now, this wasn't too bad during the winter months, however, now summer is upon us it is akin to sitting in a sauna!!! I have (eventually) found the second location for relays / fuses etc (underneath the dashboard). However, as it's been altered (an immobiliser and alarm etc) the whole things is a cluster of wires and a bit of a nightmare. Three of us have been looking, but can't work out what to do next. We have found three relays with the following numbers on - 363, 21 and 30. There is also a 12amp fuse (numbered 443937105C) and one 20amp fuse (numbered 443937105). The Haynes manual I was advised to purchase doesn't really help as it's not the exact model (closest to it) and as the wiring is in a bit of a confused mess, we can't work out where to go. Any suggestions would be fantastic as it's driving me up the wall! Thanks in advance. Mark |

Hi Mark, exactly what car do you have? Do you have power at the switches?

Hello mate,
Sorry should have said that - I have a 1995 N reg Audi Coupe. The switches were a bit iffy, but always kicked in. Now there's no power to the switches at all. The electric mirrors on the same console still work though if that narrows it down. |

Is that easier than trying to work through the relays?
An appropriate diagram of the wiring would be useful. I'm guessing that if I changed the motor (this shows my ineptness!) and the relays were still knackered, it wouldn't work?! I was just thinking about buying a load of new relays and replacing them all. But a starter for 10 regarding which relay it is would be V helpful! |

Hi Mark, I have a M plate 1995 model year 2.6e V6 Coupe. From what I can make out of my manual (Haynes 1491, which doesn't cover later than 1990) the relay board under the passenger side of the dashboard should have 18 relay locations. These are numbered from left to right. The middle row is Numbers 1 to 6, bottom row 7 to 12 and top row 13 to 18. Numbers 9 and 12 are circuit breakers for electric windows and Numbers 15 and 16 are the relays for the electric windows. Does this help?
BTW where are you located?

Do you have any lights on the switches? or does the motor whirr when the switch is pressed. If you remove the door card and unplug the window motor cable (2 pin connector) you should be able to connect it directly to a battery or charger to see if it's the motor or wiring which is the problem.
