Default 2.0 5 pot (PS) oil pump

Hi folks,

I have my old 90 back again after it had a new home for a while and looking to do what it needs before my old man takes it on as a project car.

When I had the car it overfuelled but has definately got worse. It looks as if fuel is getting into the oil and causing the oil pressure to drop when warm. I am confident this is the problem, but if not, starting to think ahead and wondering what it is like to get to the oil pump/pick up on these. I have never taken the sump off a 5 cylinder so I have no idea what to expect.

As I say I am sure the pressure is a fuel in oil problem but best to be prepared.

Many thanks in advance for any help

Mark

replacing the oil pump on the 5 cyl involves removing the front pulley, timing belt etc as well as the sump.

you'll need to drop the subframe slightly to get the extra clearance

Thanks Mike.

I spent the afternoon on the car and think I have made progress. I checked the CSV which is throwing in fuel when cold. Unplugged it electrically and nothing going in, also unplugged the temp sensor at the back of the head which also cuts out the CSV (when it is electrically plugged in) and nothing going in. I did not test it warm yet but my theory is if it is unplugged and still rich then it is the injectors in any case.

I dropped the oil which was mega high on the stick and full of fuel. Going to maybe take it on a run Tomorrow and see what the score is, think it is still running rich and will be an injector change out. I tried all the manifold bolts and will all go which is a relief.

Yep had a good look at the sump Today, looks tight indeed but think it is a fuel problem, I hope.

I also noticed I had the relay from a 2.2 in rather than the original. The original is suspect and used to need a wiggle every now and again as the car would fail to start, so hoping the wrong relay is maybe a part of it too.

Might be lucky.

Sorry for yet another random question but does anyone know where the oil pressure relief valve is on the 10v engines??

Many thanks again in advance!
