Hello!
After succesfully recreationting,by photo, the throttle body porting and polishing as shown on Audifans site,I can now offer you this service for £80 plus postage. Im removing a certain amount of the metal from you throttle body by hand using the correct file. This process I sit with for around 2.5 hours.I then smooth using a drill and lapwheel. To finish,I use a special metal polish and buff to a perfect chrome finish by hand. This whole process takes about 4 hours. What you can expect is far better airflow. My mpg has gone up by 4mpg on the 2.6 engine. The main improvement, and it is very noticeable,is the disappearance of any lag between 2 and 3000 rpm.Using a K&N panel filter and resetting your throttle properly using VAGCOM is an excellent way to compliment this, although without a K&N it is still largely noticeable. Let me know via PM or call Steve on 07771 633289 Steve ![]()

Without pictures it sounds like "gimme your money!"
![]() Interesting, butterflies can't expand, where are u removing this "certain amount of metal" from? ![]() Btw one 2.6 owner wrote how to clean this plastic intake manifold, result was similar, only without 80 pounds ![]() P.S. If amateur asks for throttle body polishing 80 pounds, let's ask, how much in britain does cost some serious thing, let's say, crankshaft grinding? ![]() |

msh, just to let you know we don't all live in a country where everyone helps each other for no financial reward. Time is money at the end of the day.
If Steve is offering a service then it is up to him to charge for that service, he's not going to do it for free. It is up to him to set a price he see's as fair and if it is fair, then he will get people using his service. Supply and demand! It would be nice if I could read a thread of yours where you weren't coming across as arrogant and negative. It's not the kind of vibe we want on here. I'm sure you have lots of useful input and could offer a fair amount of advice but you need to change your manner and tone as you have a habit of offending people. You must remember that there is a world of difference between the UK and Latvia with the social economic climate. I bet there's no one over there who would/could charge £250 to clean and polish someones car. We can over here. Steve, do you want to do another one of these threads in the traders/services section and I'll make sure that thread stays "clean". |

As ever msh, I find you a funny guy and I dont offend easil.,in this case you dont seem to have taken my feelings into consideration before writing that post.Nor have you given me the benefit of the doubt.I dont make a habit out of just asking £80 for work which takes many hours. This work is a substantial saving over sending it to Germany and being charged 200 Euros.
Here are photos of the German companies work. http://www.audifans.net/modules.php?...468&highlight= My work looks identical to this.My throttle body is now fitted back onto my car but can be removed and photographed.I would have to go through resetting throttle bodies again using VAGCOM and throttle cable adjustments, which can be a pain!

Coxy - don't talk about "social economic climate". The more I look at theese fantastic prices, the more I think, economic of britain is holding on overpriced labour and huge taxes... In case of cars that isn't brand new, I think, latvian with avarage salary can do as much as british with it's avarage salary, if not more - and not only because labour is cheaper, but also because it's repaired in more practical way. Ok, unfortunately, theese repair shops, where u are paying for time, when some guy is not only repairing, but also smoking and doing other things, and also where u can't see how big hammers are used on your car
are also spreading - at last in our capital. And again about that "social economic climate" - why there is ppls who are complaining, that B3/B4 heater's matrix change costs 300-400 pounds or C4q fuel tank replacement costs 800 pounds? Because car isn't that worth? If I would like to have stock 3A, I would certainly get RHD donor car - because of price, very low and real mileages and also there is so many RHD cars going for scrap here. Whatever. About topic - there isn't any measurements - if place around butterflies isn't changed, it's only waste of money. If it's wider [and butterflies are closing at slightly differend angle], maybe... P.S. The only way how this throttle body differs from 3A throttle body, is - 3A have iddle and full throttle switches, and not potentiometer Now I know why 3A reacts sharper on accelerator than NG - I presume there is identical throttle body ![]() P.P.S. Don't forget about placebo effect ![]() |

Speaking as someone that used to build race engines for a living I'd like to point out there IS a lot of material that can be removed from the throttle body on the V6. The primary butterfly is about 26-28mm dia (don't quote me) but the casting before it is wasted down to about 20mm dia.. I won't bore you with the details but its done to improve low throttle transitions..
I'm about to install a 2.8 V6 and I can promise you I will spend way more than £80's worth of my time on the throttle body before it's fitted... So, catgroom, go for it.. |
