Question Larger Anti Roll Bar on GT?

I'm in the middle of fitting new polyurethane bushes to the front of 2.2 GT.

and I've noticed that the ARB is smaller than the one on my CQ. I'll measure it again tomorrow to make sure, but will i be able to fit the larger Anti roll bar to the GT? it'll be a strait swap i take it? just checking.?

Also, anyone got a larger spare ARB going spare?

cheers.

Oh, and one more Q:, u know the rubber bush on the ball joint.. is it an MOT fail if it has a split in it? its not very noticeable, can i leave it? or replace?

also, do i need to fit a new ball joint? or can i just replace the rubber piece some how?

cheers in advance, hopfully not to far away from getting the Shed on the road now, i mean the 'GT' sorry lol

Default understeer

Fitting a larger ARB to just the front will reduce roll but is also as likely to increase understeer unless fitting in conjunction with an uprated suspension kit to stiffen the rear as well.
Which ball joint are you referring too? If it is the one I think it is I would replace the whole joint before the MOT.

Hi Gaz, as far as i know the rubber on the ball joint is a test fail, but if it isn't that noticable and is nice and clean the mot man may not see it anyway.

Change it. Easy if you jack up both sides of the car on stands to release the ARB tension and with bolt removed from strut use a crowbar between the strut and wishbone with gentle taps with a leather&hide hammer.

it will only fail if there is play in the joint, i have never understood why they let them through as a ball joint can go from good to bad very quickly from recent experience,
cv boots are failed everytime if they are split.

Could be because when they split, the Grease which is inside of them get's thrown out everywhere and if its the outer CV boot, that could lead to grease on your rotors and the time you need your brakes, opps they wont work

that didnt come out quite as i meant it too

but you would have thought that as soon as the ball joint rubber has split it is going to let in water/dirt within a short space of time.I know in germany it would be failed straight away.

will these do?

Default OK

If this is a complete kit with matching springs, yes. Had this set up on my old GT and worked well. Just don't turn the rear adjustment up too high. Just enough to stop any rebound.
