Massive gaping split in front RH CV boot. OK, so they may all be 23 years old. About time probly
How to tell if the cv joint itself has been affected/is knackered ? Can boot be replaced on its own ? Seems like lotsa hassle to replace, but I've never tried. Yet. Where is cheapest to get new cv boot &/or cv joint ? 2nd hand can't be good, can it? I don't a have hub puller - is replacing the cv boot or joint easy enough to do at home with reasonable tools ? On a geriatric A80Q ? With no PS, of course . . . Sensing that I may be looking into a black hole in terms of £; is there a cheap fix that anyone has come across, either for split cv boots or for knackerd cv joints ? Any & all info really appreciated. Fucked if I know what to do next ![]() |

You can get a CV joint boot kit from such as quattro corner. Yes, the hub has to come apart which also means dismantling the brakes.
You SHOULD need a puller, because the assembly instructions include Loctite on the splines. Sometimes they come apart without. |
