Default oil/mixing synthetic and mineral.

hello,

have just done an oil/filter change and have been told its too thin, 5W30 fully synth.

i have here a can of 15W40 purest mineral oil! lovely, will last all of three months i'm sure! don't have another filter at the mo. but would like the tappetytapping gonen (or less tappety) by m.o.t. time, on monday..

will it do any harm to leave the filter(which has only done a couple of hundred miles) on, as it will be full of synthetic oil, if i change the oil? and i'll change the filter next time.

thanks

thanks

one more question if you take online mechanic paypal payments.. (i mean it!)

start engine cold - 5 bar - no tapping

as it heats up the oil pressure goes down and the tapping starts.

never goes below 3 bar while driving, 2 bar at idle, when warm. but its quite loud..

im wondering if its just a worn tappet or if half the oil is p*ssing out back into the sump when its warm/ not being sent up into the engine? sender looks like it works ok...i think.

no leaks, no smoke, no oil consumption of any kind.

just a ph***d tappet..?

on the subject of mixing oils

i was informed you can mix mineral oil and part synth

but dont mix mineral with fully synth

was told part synth is a blend of oils where as fully synth isnt

are these older engines not designed to run on mineral oil

can remember people using fully synth in old ducati engines and it didnt do them any good

5-30 sinth is tooooo thin...
dont need to remove filter, just add Your mineral oil and done.
tapet noise starts just because of oil. Your engine is too old to use it.

Nop, oil pressure relief function only.
