Default WR exhaust silencer boxes

anyone taken out a silencer box and how much noisier is it? is it a level that would be comfortable over a long trip?
I have a milltex rear section on loan so what do you recon?

had a straight through on the UrS4 which sounded great above 3k revs but below that it became mind numbing.

I bought a 80 quattro of 83 vintage a couple of years back with no innerds in the back box, it sounded great but was a case of lift off the throtle when you saw a police car, good fun though.

Rich, that rear box you have from manda was originly mine, that came from a single box system, I had that on my WR for some time, its not toooooooo load at all, It will sound much better with the OEM centre box out, remember yours is a road car with all the sound proffing, carpets and thick padded seats in place to help deaden the noise, Ive got none of that in mine and a 3" stainless system with only a 12" back box which is muck loader than the miltek and thats still to quite for me

Last week on the chatsworth jolly, I went up behind the Stratos at about 80 mph and about 300 yards behind it, with Headsets on and I could STILL hear that over the top of the quat

Dont worry, you wont regret getting rid of that flame trap
