Default 1972 Audi 100 dieing

hi all need a little help with the Audi 100, its a 1972 1.9 engine
while driving, after a few miles it starts to cough and spit, and if i take it out of gear car seems to turn itself off (revs drop) and if im quick enough i can keep her alive, if not she dies... so dies at every traffic light.
i gave put new sparks, coil, distrubutor cap and arm, put in a new batt last night as old one died
what could it be?

im guessing ignition or alternator but its just a guess (i am rubbish with cars) any ideas?

need it for friday (using her as a wedding car) so need this fixed in the morning

My best guess is the carburettor, as it's sounds like a fuelling issue.
You could have some crap in the jets which just need removing and blowing out.
Take the top off the air filter and then have a look and see how much fuel is getting in to the carb with small amount of throttle. A nice steady flow and the jets ok, but if not, then that's where the problem could be.
Can't remember if that had an in-line fuel filter fitted or not either? If it does, check the fuel level in the filter.
It's going to be something very simple as these engine are very basic and easy to work on.

sticky choke..(if not starvation-as above) , flooding? i had a carby car that did the same thing as you describe. the carb had baked in the heat over the years and got ...sticky. WD40 sorted it for a while, but ended up getting a good greasing!

Would an air leak cause the problem?

Default Failing fuel cut-off solenoid?

Have those cars got a fuel cut-off solenoid on the fuel intake to the carb? I had problems with one of those years ago (can't remember if it was the valve or the wiring) and I remember the symptoms were cutting out at traffic lights.

Unlikely to be alternator unless new batteries keep going flat.

More likely to be fuel related than ignition related, especially as you've replaced almost everything.
