Default Engine doesn't fire when warm...

I have an unusual problem with my mb quattro.

When firing the car up from cold the alternator turns over a few times then the engine slowly but surely burbles into life. From first start I can happily turn the engine on again for the first 5-10 minutes from cold start no problems.

The problems occur when the cars been running for more than 10 minutes. Once I turn off the car and leave it more than a couple of minutes the car simply won't start back up again. The starter motor is turning but the engine just won't catch/ignite. In this state I can fairly easily bump start it so I'm really confuzzled as to what could possibly be the matter.

As it is it makes fuel stops an absolutely critical event regards timing, either I fill her up within a few minutes of firing from cold or be prepared to bump her off the forecourt!!

Thoughts/suggestions anyone?

Tried no pedal down, pedal half down and pedal full down, all to no avail

Getting quite frustrated with it now as I love driving the car but know that I can only drive it in a circle straight back home where I can park it up before it refuses to start again!

It may be just the very late night, and being up much earlier than I'd like...
But something doesn't quite read right.

Are you saying alternator when you mean starter motor?

I hope all goes well for the wedding. CONGRATULATIONS. After 21 years of marriage, I can still recommend it.
