Default Typ 89/85 subframes

Can I bolt a type 89 (90 Sport FWD if it matters) front subframe to my Type 85 (90q)?

Also will the type 89 hubs mate up to type 85 suspension?

The fwd subframes are not the same as they don't have the holes for the gearbox mounts.

Just the hubs - yes as the bearings are the same size. It will change the track as they are different.

Does your T85 have ABS and does the 90 have ABS ? something to consider

So I can bolt the 276 hubs and brakes up to my T85 setup?

Both have ABS, though I'll be disabling it anyway

only if you used the whole strut(but with the donor being fwd nothing from the rear will fit a quattro anyway)

the cv joints are smaller fom memory on the t85,and if you wanted to use the t89 driveshafts you will find the n/s is too long/short(cant remember which it is)
plus the pitch for caliper mounting is smaller on t85

in my eyes you would be best off using the struts from an early b3 80/90 (one piece strut same as t85 but g60s can bolt straight to them)

another thing to consider is how well the t85 box will suit a high revving 7a??or are you using the 20v box already?

Right ok so why would I source B3 struts when I have a pair?

Can I not just swap the outer CV's to use my existing shafts and new hubs?

The calipers and carriers wouldn't bolt up to where my 256 gear is mounted atm, it is a full hub job?

Apologies for probably stupid questions, I'm used to Golfs of similar vintage where everything (including Audi brakes) is interchangable and couldn't be much more straight forward

I was planning on using the T85 box, is it not up to much? I'll be converting to RWD while I'm doing this too

you dont have a pair of early b3 struts on a 1991 car, anything after sometime on E reg they went 2 piece which is what you have on the 20v.

dont think it is possible to swap hubs on them, lots of people would have already done it if so,would have made life much easier for many

the boxes are very strong but i found they were really short geared when coupled to 20vt but some others dont mind them, cant say i have seen a 7a running on one of those boxes before

Latvian B2 enthusiasts usually fits typ8A ["late B3"] struts because they are two piece, what makes easier some maintenance etc, and also fits that 20v brakes - after all, B2 is still audi. Not golf. So there is no need to turn it into Gaudi.

P.S. What makes mk2 G60 golf brakes so desired - because these are 4x100? Author of this thread has B2q, so it's 4x108 already and no need for any golf stuff.
