Default B3 2.2 Coupe Starter Motor

I need to remove the starter motor to get the manifold off, I can only see one bolt/nut holding it in place which is a complete arse to get to, any ideas of how to get to the nut as it seems to be a catch 22 situation..I need to remove the downpipe so need to remove the starter motor, in order to remove the starter motor I need to remove the downpipe
Any help greatly appreciated

you can get the downpipe off with a long extension and socket from underneath, i'm pretty sure you dont actually need to take the starter off to remove the manifold, i've never removed it and had the exhaust manifold off my turbo 80 10v loads of times, but if you really want it off, im sure you take the bottom bolt out from the back with a spanner and the top 1 out with extension/ratchet from the front. hope that helps

Sam..Thanks for that....there are 4 nuts holding the downpipe on, 3 have been removed but the 4th is the one closest to the manifold and I just cannot reach it from underneath with a long bar, just the wrong angle, hence me loking to take the starter motor off to get access to it!!!
