I'd be tempted to use a reputable Octane booster to be honest rather than a lump of "something" off ebay.

I normally drain the tanks for the winter (pain when you wont to run the car up), then put new fuel in as and when, just thought it may have saved me some work.

I never worry about it. Can't recall ever having a problem.
I went into the salvage compound at our local scrap yard once and found an old Rover P5B Coupe that had been in there so long it had brambles growing up through the floor and up out the top of the back seat. When I opened the drivers door, it fell off because of the rust. I found a spare ignition key and much to my amazement, it started. Sounded alright as well for something that had been in there for years. Must have had a good battery. In fact I wish the one in my old bmw had lasted as long as that. Must get down there and find another decent one for it.

If the engine is running I tend to run the engine up to operating temp once a week and put a fresh gallon in every couple of months seems to do the trick. Wouldn't trust any additive as petrol is petrol, it deteriorates and no additive will stop it, mask it but not stop it...
