i called up ayr audi and asked them what they charge for servicing - they said that they did two services and the cheaper one was oil and filter service.
"what is included in that?" i asked. "an oil change and new filter, sir" "ok" i said "anything else?" "a new oil filter and new oil, sir" "okayyyyy..." i said . . "what price does that come in at?" (*clears his throat*) "erm, A HUNDRED AND NINETY POUNDS, sir" ![]() ![]() "and what do i get for that?" i asked. ![]() "an oil and filter change, sir" he said sheepishly "new oil and a new filter? that's it?!" i enquired "yes, sir" and that was the cheaper of the two options!! the more expensive service was £390 and included "oil AND air filter and spark plugs too, sir.." ![]() i don't think that i'll be using audi servicing in my lifetime - who on earth would willingly volunteer to be extorted like this?!! ![]()

When I bought my '98 R Plate A6 2.8 quattro, it had one previous owner before me, and a full Audi service history from the supplying Audi dealer from new. When I bought it, at 6 years old, it was due a service, so I popped into a VAG specialist. The pollen filter was the original date stamped Nov 97 (car was reg. Jan '98), and one bank (the more difficult side to change) of spark plugs were very obviously much more used/worn/fooked than the other bank of plugs. It was quite obvious they had not been replaced as stated in the service history.
So much for a full Audi Service History. I am sure that is not an isolated case. *Bellend. |

They're generally hopeless and arrogant.
On my S4, it had 2 new K03(?) turbos. One went noisy, and the service history showed that an exhaust manifold had been replaced. Both turbos were still in warranty. Duly handed over to Audi Stirling, where the turbos were to be exchanged under warranty. I also gave authority to change the other manifold at my expense, to avoid the historic failures (allegedly). It's an engine out job, so it seemed an appropriate opportunity. Guess what- they didn't bother with the replacement manifold. Guess what- it broke. And They didn't follow their own technical bulletin, which they had discussed with me prior to leaving it with them. Their service manager was, quite simply, an utter arse. Now that Eltee has left their ranks, it will be only on a last resort basis that I do business with them again. It's a further indication that their preferred customer base is high salaried professionals who don't ever get into the grubby bits.

One of my rs4s was the same , full history but the pollen filter was the original and blacker than a black thing on a dark night . I took my own oil for the last service and they supplied the filter and a couple of odds and sods and was £105 👍

I've had numerous cars with allegedly full service histories - it seems to me they all charge for work they don't do

Mind you, I could name and shame a few Audi Specialists that have turned out to be at best incompetent*, at worst, lying bullshitting conmen#.
* Dead A8. # Big bill for a job that had supposedly been done less than a year before at the conman's gaffe on the A6 2.7T. A week before Christmas. The missus wasn't happy. I didn't get my leg over for some time because of that. ![]() |

My Local dealer about 8 miles away always used to do our cars. I took my 2.6 80 Avant there always used to for servicing. When i went to pay and collect the car the service manager said "Your Front brakes are worn 60% and the rears 40%" I looked at him with self assurance while my brain cocked the trigger.I said, "that's funny,i have only just replaced both pads less than 3 weeks ago." "How can you possibly come to that conclusion?" He Replied, "that's what the servicing technician has reported." I replied, "Really, more like you guys inventing work, where there is no need more like" The only reply that came,"How are you paying today Sir?" ![]() Me too, they are just as bad and i would say even worse!! The worst an internationally renowned Quattro specialist. Last edited by vorsprung durch technik; 12-06-15 at 01:07 PM. |
