If ever there was a contradiction of terms, that is it....
Its neither Super, nor sporty.... Looks like they've made a tidy job of restoring it though.

I've still got 4 arches plus front and rear spoilers from one of my MK1 XR2s kicking around, looks like my pension pot's growing

Bit unkind saying its neither super, nor sport; it was Fords toe-dip in the water prior to launching the XR2 mk1
As stevet63 was just discussing with me, I had one back in the day, TFW300W, same colour etc. Several things strike me about the advert; 'original shell'; actually not really, as apart from the bonnet, roof, door and tailgate its all been replaced it has 'supersport' in RS2000-like script on the tailgate; they never did iirc it appears to have a factory roof; Im sure that it came as part of a climate pack inc, opening front 1/4 lights, tinted gradient band windscreen etc headlamp wash; not sure if this was part of the 'climate pack' but thought it should be fitted in conjunction with the above driving lamps; should be Carello, these aren't bumpers; were painted satin black, not gloss wheel centre caps; should be plain black, not 'RS' script Overall, a nice attempt, but as said, not £10,995 worth, this lot are as bad as 4Star Classics attempting to drive market prices up, i'd say its a £6k-£7k car (although I wouldn't dream of paying that) - in that it is mechanically a Fiesta 1.3 S with some nice bits on it that are mostly cosmetic. As Steve said to me, "I bet it's been restored by someone that wasn't even born when they were new to remember exactly what they looked like!" Last edited by rtz62; 14-10-13 at 11:54 AM. |
