Afternoon all!
Just wondering if someone can give me some advice about the brakes on my 80. It is a 1993 B4 Audi 80 2.0 16v (ACE) Front wheel drive. It has currently got a set of coupe V6 280mm discs on the front with Audi S2 Girling G60 twin pot calipers. After looking at my brakes the other day I noticed that a lip was forming on the inner of the brake pads where the pad wasn't in contact with the disc. As I understood it the S2 calipers were meant for 280mm discs and there wouldn't be any problems with changing to the S2 calipers. I wouldn't have thought that I could have mis-aligned anything but now I'm starting to think I've done something wrong. This is what brings me onto the Focus ST170 discs, I know there are 300mm dia but I am wondering what work is required to fit them to the 80 hub? I know the centering dia needs enlarging but how do I work around the high difference? Audi 56.3mm - Ford 44.5mm? Another thing I've been thinking about is swapping the master cylinder from an S2 onto my 80. Would this be a straight swap? Would it actually improving braking? Would it be a PITA? Hope someone knows some of the answers. Regards, Andy |

ST discs have been done but I can't remember who. The s2 master is hydraulic assisted so you can't put it in easily plus you will need the PAS pump as well. A lot of people put one from an 80 in an s2 though.

I don't know what's gone off there???
I used discs off an Audi coupe quattro with the 7A 20v engine and S2 calipers and everything lined up much better than that. And you want to stick with the vacuum servo don't bother with the hydraulic servo and brake bomb as they are a PITA!

No there was no need. It was on a 2.0 cabriolet. I fitted 20v 4 stud discs and g60 twin pot calipers with no other changes

Tonks, or anyone else actually, could you confirm that the disc on the left is the one I need?
