Default Rallye Sunseeker 2011

After the success of last years Rallye Sunseeker event celebrating 30 years of quattro they would be very pleased for us to come back again for 2011. The rally is based in Bournemouth and is the opening round of the British Rally Championship.

A similar format to last year, with us being part of the Motorfair at the Somerly Park main spectator stage. Then having the opportunity to do some demonstration runs, in conjunction with some other cars, between the running of the morning and afternoon stages.

The venue is slightly different this year in that the Motorfair will be in the lower part of the park behind the house, not in front as previously. This will allow more room and better access and parking. It also means the demo route is different and from the description given (see below) should be a bit longer.

The rallye's stage route has altered for 2011, thanks to a short piece of new road which has been built by the Somerley Estate, the demo route will actually be a circuit of Somerley House! We will start in the Lower Park, on the route of the special stage, then go up the hill and past the front of the House, before coming down Stable Hill and running below the House, past Motorfair, back to the start.

The Rallye Sunseeker is on Saturday 26th February 2011. That unfortunately clashes with Race Retro which has been moved forward from it’s usual mid March weekend. Consequently one of last years contingent will not be able to attend, but myself, Ian, Derek, Ray and Adam should all be there. If all goes to plan there will also be a quattro competing on the rally proper as well.

If anyone is interested in coming along or taking part then please let me know. If you have a rally based car then you can participate in the stage demonstration runs. Alternatively, we have provisionally been allocated an 8 space pitch at the Motorfair, so any Audi would be welcome to add to the display. Any additional spaces above the provisional 8 are to be charged at £15 per car (normal spectator entry to the event is £25 per car!).

I have started to strip the car now for it's slow re-birth in 201? / God knows when. That weekend I am with 'him from oop north' at Race Retro. If we weren't, me and 'him from opp north' would be down sarf with you lot.. It's a massive shame that it's conincided but it has. We can of course, do a massive photo trade after the various events. Thanks for the offer though Ian.

That's a shame, I was looking forward to the possibility of seeing yours used in anger, and AK's at full chat again... With the bigger demo' stage and the enthusiastic reception, Sunseeker's lining up to be even better...

I agree but mine needs a lot of work to be doing stuff like that, and the steering wheel on the other side plus suspension rebuild. Sunseeker will be brilliant and the comararderie of all concerned makes it all the more special. Last years was just a hoot.

Would like to come along to this, still need to do the clutch master cylinder on the CQ (a winter job) plus it's on a SORN at the moment to keep it out of the crap weather.

This produces a dilemma, pop down to this one, which I seriously regretted missing last year or race retro. Lots of cars I like at race retro, but cars driven in real anger at sunseeker.

Would be good to see you there Will.
I know the master cylinder is a bitch of a job but you have 8 weeks to get it sorted .
