Where's the electricity coming from is exactly what i was thinking when it hit the news yesterday. I mean.......... don't make me laugh!

Governments of all persuasions have ducked the electricity problem this country has faced for at least the last 2 decades knowing full well that the Nuclear power plants we have are at the end of their working life. Knowing all of this government have only last year signed a deal for the first Nuclear plant and that won't come on stream until what the government wants by 2025. We all know that won't happen! Currently today we can barely keep up with demand with todays infrastructure and that's only just about managing because we all switched to low energy light bulbs and eco standby appliances etc.

The elephant in the room is Diesel, it's far more polluting than petrol, and of course we have our champions the European Commission to thank for that, pushing it for their major manufacturers of diesel engines Peugeot and VAG back in the 90's extolling it's green virtues. How convenient for the European Commission and it's 2 major protagonists, France and Germany's diesel industries but the cats out of the bag now. It's too late, the damage is already been and is being done on a daily basis!

The ban by 2040 of all diesel and petrol cars won't happen in the terms of what we think it means or they will tell us. Industry isn't set up for this new technology nor is it good enough to take over! In my opinion diesel should be scrapped within 5 years to give people chance to cut their cloth accordingly. This wouldn't cause major upheaval, engine plants all around the world would carry on and produce petrol engines instead keeping the workforce, and life as we know it, yet at the same time decreasing harmful pollution by at least 70%?? Diesel stinks, it's extremely dirty, clogs up engines with carbon and the pollution given of is killing people especially in urban areas.

Te recap, i wouldn't worry too much about the governments statement it won't be possible to achieve this goal. It's just an aspiration and in any case just ban diesel, far far less pollution and everything continues as is for industry until the day Electric cars are perfected and a gradual phasing in as public demand pics up.

Have a good day peeps!
