No need to take apart.

The cog should be on the shaft that sticks out on the LHS - It meshes perpendicular with the worm drive ( the white /cream coloured shaft)
If you are VERY careful you could stick the gear back together with some quick setting plastic weld - I would advise against superglue as it sets too hard and will probably cause more damage than it repairs - however, if I were you I would get a unit from a scrapper and replace just the broken bit on yours.
ISTR that the cog is secured with some sort of epoxy on the shaft - may need to GENTLY warm it up to get it off.
