5w 40 is good but no lower on the lower end.
As for Semi synthetic or Fully synthetic it depends how much you love your car. Fully synthetic stays in grade for a long long time under all conditions hence why it's more expensive than a semi synth which is a mix of mineral oil therefore breaking down far quicker than a full Synth.
