Well gents its been a while since my last post but due to other things happening in the garage and getting some work done to make money before Christmas this project was put on the back burner, the strut brace and turret mounts have been on the car in primer and today was my first chance to get some black paint on them, brace now is a round tube, the original plan with the 20mm square box section did fit but due to space limitations the head of the allen bolts at each side were touching the under side on the bonnet, the bonnet did close but when washing the car you could feel at the edge of the bonnet to wing gap that the bonnet was raised a little, the 18mm round tube with 2mm thick wall was my solution to this problem,
both flattened ends of the tube has a 4mm steel packer pushed into the end and then pressed flat in the bearing press ( no tooling marks ), if I just fattened the end of the tube the side of the tube may have split, I did weld the end of the tube to limit any possible ingress of water.
