The Penderyn Distillery is about a 30 min drive away up in the brecon beacons (where men are men and sheep are scared.......), went up with a couple of mates for a tour, and a couple of tasters. Excellent!!
Bought my father a masterclass tour of the distillery for his birthday last year and he loved it!!, you get shown round by the head distiller and shown how to taste etc properly!!
It's about £30 a bottle here in gods own country- hate to think what it costs on your side of the pond!!
Another favourite of mine is Jamesons 12, Irish whiskey, very nice

Had a glass of Penderyn yesterday as my night time tipple!
Managed to pick up a bottle of Glenmorangie 18 year old rare malt yesterday

Picked it up from our local off-licence who obviously don't have much of a clue about prices as let's just say, it was very much a bargain for me!
