the door membrane on the drivers door was supposed to have been replaced when they did the door window mec. Apparently the plastic membrane doesnt keep water out.... its part of soundproofing

Have you checked?? I have heard of this being a problem leading to water ingress. I wouldn't take the words of a garage at face value tbh
