From what I've read, women are now spending the majority of household budgets. Advertising is therefore orientated towards the fairer sex (why do we get sanitary product adverts at teatime? nice.......).
This has an impact on what programs are shown. They are orientated more towards women.... because of the advertising
This is why we have a constant stream of primetime "tripe"....

Crap factor
