On further research, it seems they can't forecast global warming accurately either. Hadley forecast 2007 to be the hottest globally on record.... global temperatures actually fell by approx 0.5°C over the year, data taken from their own records.

On a side note, it should be noted that sunspot activity effectively ceased in 2006 (coinciding with the global cooling anomaly as recorded by Hadley) according to NASA and is unlikely to start up again until 2014 which could be another Maunder Minimum... the same effect that caused the little ice age between 1645 and 1715 when the last period of very little sunspot activity occured and the Thames froze.

What do I think? I think a little knowledge is sometimes a dangerous thing. 1645 we knew very little about weather forecasting and global temperature trends but I don't think they were predicting the end of civilisation because of man's disregard for his environment. We now think we know everything, when quite clearly nature is reminding us that we don't.
