All the pipes need to be connected and connected into the right place. they should also be free of any of the accumulated years of gunge that builds up. I totally stripped my Cq out the other year and replaced all pipes, hoses and injectors with new. The difference was totally amazing and transformed the car.
Also take off the throttle body and if you can leave to soak for several days ( longer the better) in copious quantities of carb cleaner. Same with the idle stabilisation valve too.
