Laura, you should have a brass insert to start with, then a plastic inner insert. One the end of each injector there must be a shroud as this is what the airflow flows over to help make the spray cone. If you have taken them out, then make sure they are not left in the bottom of the seats. When putting them back in ensure the shroud is on the end, and the rubber 'O' ring is in its recess. They may not go back snuggly to start with but a touch of fairy liquid or ( huh hum ) lube will do. Then once they are back in ensure the long metal strip is located to ensure they stay seated and held in. You can push them in so far by hand then a gentle push with a flat bladed screwdriver will make them slip in to where they should be. Ensure you fit the fuel lines to each injector first though cause there is not much room.
